Books
"This photo represents places that kids can go, places to chill. The library and places like Drop in Centre’s are meaningful to me because they let lots of homeless people chill. Reading is a meaningful activity for me because I like to do it and I like having access to books. Kids don’t like to wander around have no where good to go. It is good to have meaningful places to go." |

My Group Home
"I feel unsafe on 118 Avenue (the whole strip). Lots of crack heads hang out there and stuff. Its not good. I feel safe in group homes because the staff are good and it’s a place to sleep. I don’t leave the house often because I have anxiety. West Edmonton mall and galaxy land are safe areas because there is security and it’s a very nice environment. Its important to have safe places because then a kid can focus on what they want to do and get the support they need." |
Open Doors
"This photo represents open doors that are welcoming. I think there needs to be more placements, like SIL placements. For me, I have been ready for SIL and have been on the wait list for so long for bears paw but I still have to wait. When you are ready to move on it makes you move backwards and antsy when you have to wait for a spot to open up. When kids are ready to move on we should have more options.More supports for homeless people is good too. like more workers. Its good to have people and places welcome you in." |
